MCT oil or medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s) are unique fatty acids that are found naturally in coconut and palm oils.
Let us get this right from the start; MCT Oil is probably the best fatty acid you can ever take. Before listing the numerous benefits of MCT oil and how I use it everyday, I wish to discuss vaping with you, especially when you vape CBD for health and wellbeing.
MCT VAPE E-LIQUID
MCT is so versatile that it can very easily be used as a replacement for the PG/VG e-liquid that you will find in the majority of vape fluids out there. There is a growing community of people that vape but have long term concerns over bringing PG down into the lungs. Although there aren’t any studies at the moment that say PG is bad, I think we should remember that it is a petroleum by-product (Crude Oil) and is in the vape market to give a ‘throat hit’ similar to that experienced when smoking tobacco.
Being ‘Mindful’ when we are looking after our health surely means that we should be looking for a 100% natural alternative? Well that will be MCT OIL then! That is my opinion anyway.
I do still vape CBD using a PG/VG combination, with great results, however I’m certainly not going to do it over a long period and do seek alternatives, so that is why I think it important to raise the awareness of MCT Oil. When demand grows, companies will have no choice but to develop MCT based e-liquids, especially for CBD, so lets hope that happens sooner rather than later.
MCT USAGE IDEAS
In our family, my wife and I take MCT Oil everyday as part of a health & wellbeing regime, delivering improved thinking (focus) along with increased energy. Doesn’t everyone want that?
Sometimes I have those times when the energy seems to leave my body or when I get brain fog (which can be a regular event living alongside MS) so I will take an extra half tablespoon of the oil and I then know it will see me through.
Well for me it is 3 tablespoons per day – I tend to try and take them all in the AM, around 60 minutes apart and on the whole this regularly sees me through the day.
Now consider I am permanently sat on my backside in a wheelchair so I 100% believe that the process of taking MCT really does help me maintain a decent weight by suppressing hunger cravings and improving my digestion. Yes I still eat chocolate etc, every now and again, but the BIG difference is that I never pile weight on and working alongside the power of CBD my body’s digestive systems must be in a state of Homeostasis where the odd burger/chocolate/pizza never affects me.
I also do intermittent fasting (just come off a 72hr) as through all my research from watching/listening & reading I really want to feed my brain cells with the very best energy source (Ketones) that are going to keep me away from diseases such as Diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Because glucose and insulin mechanisms in the brain are so impaired by the time someone enters into the dementia stages, with a strong link with diabetes, the neuroprotectant effects of a Ketogenic diet working with MCT oil could slow or even reverse symptoms.
When the body struggles to produce insulin it cannot produce the Glucose from the blood to feed the brain and body cells. When this happens, especially in the brain nerve cells, that’s when we get a reduction in capability that leads the nerve cells to die and so the brain shrinks.
Fasting on a Ketogenic diet. Fasting is the natural way to remove toxins from the body, bring it back into balance and reset the Immune system. Maybe not 72hrs all the time but definitely 48hrs OR, I do regular Intermittent fasting, which is eating for 6 hours and then fasting for the other 18. By combining this kind of regime with MCT Oil you will find it is very easy!
By using MCT you can get the body starting to produce Ketones for energy instead of sugar and glucose, so combining a good quality MCT Oil is paramount to giving your body the tools it needs to heal.
MCT Oil is a major factor in helping the process of your body to create Ketones for energy and for greater brain focus.
Any cancer cells cannot effectively use Ketone bodies as a source of energy and therefore research says that Ketones slow the proliferation of tumor cells and may also halt metastasis! I will mention the MCT brand we use at the end of this Blog post.
My wife probably takes around 1 tablespoon, not enough in my opinion, I will get her to increase, well if she lets me 😉 but I’m confident this will happen, especially when I inform her of the weight loosing powers MCT has! Ketones are able to penetrate the blood/brain barrier meaning the brain cells are fuelled with a clean energy source that will last for hours along with clearer thinking.
CAN I TAKE TOO MUCH MCT OIL?
If taking MCT Oil for the first time you should take 1 teaspoon to begin with, per day, and be mindful of how your body is reacting. Should there be no side effects then there’s NO reason why you can’t increase, just take it steady and go up by 1 teaspoon at a time.
3 Teaspoons = 1 Tablespoon
MCT IS NOT dangerous but if too much is taken then the bodies digestive system may struggle to deal with it all which could lead to stomach cramps, diarrhea and sickness but this will be avoided if you just take it steady and build up slowly.
