The second part of the test involved, changing the drug provided to each person. From the tests conducted, those who took the CBD, experience reduced anxiety, and no similar effect occurred where the placebo was administered. Scientists observed the response in the hippocampus –an area that influences our emotional response.
Cannabis oil has also been used in treating paediatric anxiety and insomnia. In a study conducted in 2015, researchers aimed to examine the effect of CBD on anxiety and insomnia. The patient was a 10-year old girl, who had suffered for a long time from PTSD, due to sexual abuse at 3-years. Before the study, the treatment had involved prescription medicines which provided only temporary relief. She was full of anxiety, could not sleep, had outbursts and proved challenging to manage.
